I knew I was responsible for the death of the most important person in my life, my Nannie. She came to visit us while we were living in England. She was every thing to me. She provided me with the attention, affection and attunement that is so vital to child development and a sense of empathy for others. In her eyes I saw my reflection and it made her smile. I made her smile. It was good. I was good. In that reflection I felt calm, safe and secure (regulated). What I didn't know was that the aura of her love bathed me in oxytocin.
